Officers Resign after ‘Rating’ Their Female Colleagues over Text

In recent years, stories of police misconduct have unfortunately become increasingly prevalent, negatively affecting public trust in law enforcement. One particularly disturbing incident involved two Merseyside police officers who resigned after being exposed for engaging in inappropriate and offensive behaviour towards their female colleagues.

The investigation began after McLullich was found involved in an illicit affair with Stephanie Glynn, a fellow police officer, by Glynn’s spouse, Gavin Harper, who himself was a retired officer.

Harper was found not guilty of an assault charge on McLullich but was convicted of stalking his separated wife, receiving a suspended jail sentence at Liverpool Crown Court. During this case, the investigators seized and inspected McLullich’s phone.

Chats between McLullich and Jackson revealed explicit discussions and shared images of female officers, made from March 2020 to January 2021. One instance involved Jackson capturing a covert picture of a female constable and sending it to McLullich. The two also targeted new inductees, with McLullich once commenting on a 19-year-old recruit’s appeal and gullibility.

The independent panel, after reviewing the written judgement, concluded that the pair engaged in offensive dialogues about nearly ten separate female officers. The victims reported feeling shocked, upset and violated.

The actions of McLullich and Jackson were determined as breaching professional standards, with both officers acknowledging their conduct. They were told that had they not resigned, they would have been immediately dismissed.

Cheryl Rhodes, the head of the force’s Professional Standards Department, admonished the former officers for their inappropriate behaviour, affirming it as entirely unacceptable.
